Winnipeg will host an exhibition game featuring the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks and Tampa Bay Lightning, True North Sports & Entertainment Limited said Wednesday.
The Sept. 22 matchup will be the seventh NHL pre-season contest hosted by Winnipeg since 1997 (the Jets moved to Phoenix after the 1995-96 season), and the fourth at the MTS Centre.
Last year, the Lightning defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtime before 11,644 fans.
The game will be a homecoming for Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, a Winnipeg native.
