Cornelia Huetter of Austria was fastest in Wednesday's training run for the season-opening women's World Cup downhill.

The women race downhills Friday and Saturday followed by a super-G on Sunday in Lake Louise, Alta.

Huetter's time was one minute 51.54 seconds followed by teammate Nicole Schmidhofer in 1:52.37. Lara Gut of Switzerland was third in 1:52.51.

Larisa Yurkiw of Owen Sound, Ont., was 10th.

American ski star Lindsey Vonn, who has a career 15 wins in Lake Louise, skied off course and finished 34th.
