Mengtao Xu of China won gold in the women's aerials at a freestyle World Cup on Sunday while Canadian Sabrina Guerin posted a career-best fifth-place finish.
Mengtao finished with 192.28 points to top Alla Tsuper of Belarus, who had 187.00. Shuang Cheng of China was just behind in third with 186.99.
Guerin, who's from nearby Laval, Que., was fifth in her first World Cup of the season. Stephanie Pratte of Quebec City was 17th.
Anton Kushnir of Belarus won gold in the men's event with 247.60 points. Guangpu Qi of China won silver with 240.97 and Stanislav Kravchuk of Ukraine took bronze with 234.60.
Travis Gerrits of Milton, Ont., was the top Canadian in 10th place. It was his first World Cup final of the season.
Remi Belanger of Mascouche, Que., was 16th, Jonathan Vellner of Red Deer, Alta., was 28th and Warren Shouldice of Calgary was 32nd. Jean-Christophe Andre of Montreal was 37th and Samuel Belanger Dallaire of Lac-Beauport, Que., was 38th.
