Canada's women's sevens team are undefeated at the Amsterdam Sevens after three decisive victories on Saturday.

Canada opened the day with 37-0 rout against the Raven Pumas, then drubbed Germany 38-7 before hammering the OA Saints from England 77-0.

Russia, which pulled out of the tournament, was originally scheduled to play Canada in the opener.

Mandy Marchak, Arielle Dubisette-Borrice, Brittany Watters, Kelsey Willoughby, and Brittany Orr each scored tries against the Raven Pumas. Ahsley Patzer added four conversions.

Against Germany, Jen Kish scored a pair of tries, while Patzer added a try of her own to go with six conversions for 17 points. Other scores came from Kelly Russell and Marchak with Orr adding a conversion late in the game.

Dubisette-Borrice was at it again in the match against the OA Saints. She collected a hat trick in that game while Megan Gibbs added two. Orr crossed three times and Julianne Zussman, Marchak, Patzer and Willoughby each contributed singles.

Patzer hit for 11 conversions in the game along with one more from Orr.

"Forwards are dominating the scrums and hurrying the pace at line-outs," Russell said. "Team communication needs to improve but we are working on it. Still looking to play at our potential but tomorrow games should challenge us further."

Canada will take on the French side Esprit 7 and Brazil Ladies on Sunday.

For head coach John Tait, who has taken his women's sevens team to two tournaments and come away with championship trophies both times, he is still being cautiously optimistic.

"This is a tricky tournament for this group," Tait said. "We played two fairly weak sides today, but Germany was organized and forced us to structure our defence.

"I was happy with the performance of the team but especially Kelsey and Arielle.

"I'm also happy that we have not suffered any injuries and that we have a later start tomorrow. We haven't been challenged yet, but our fitness should serve is well for the long day ahead."
