Canadian show jumper Eric Lamaze capped his season with a second-place finish in the Rolex World Cup Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Olympic gold medallist from Schomberg, Ont., rode Hickstead to a time of 32.65 seconds in a jumpoff. Kevin Staut of France won the gold in a time of 32.50 aboard Silvana de Hus. Sweden's Rolf-Goran Bengtsson and Quintero La Silla were third in 32.88.
"Our results in Geneva were a good way to finish the year," said Lamaze, who earned 40,000 euros (C$53,390) for his second-place finish. "The past four weeks were really great for my horses, and the young ones got some good experience and exposure. It was fantastic that Hickstead could finish out the year like this."
Geneva was the fourth and final stop on Lamaze's indoor tour which began in Maastricht, Netherlands, followed by Brussels and Paris.
