GOOD

Robbie Keane

As the leading international scorer in Irish soccer history, the diminutive striker wasted little time putting his stamp on Major League Soccer, converting a David Beckham pass 21 minutes into his Los Angeles Galaxy debut last Saturday in a 2-0 win. But then when you buy quality you get quality, a notion that remains mostly a mystery for both of Canada's MLS teams.

Tim Thomas

The accolades keep coming for the Bruins goaltender. Winning the Stanley Cup was nice – to go along with his Conn Smythe and Vezina Trophy successes – but that was so two months ago. So while feting the hometown hero this week, Davison, Mich., decided to honour Thomas with the pièce de résistance – naming a footbridge after him. And who doesn't grow up skating on frozen ponds wanting that?

BAD

Aaron Hill

It might be a bit of a stretch to call the second baseman mighty, but how he has fallen since batting .286 with 36 home runs two years ago. So much so that the Blue Jays shipped him to Arizona on Tuesday, partly because the Diamondbacks wanted a more "contact-oriented" lineup, although with Hill going 1-for-8 over his first two games with his new club, that seems an unlikely proposition.

Reggie Wayne

Way to welcome a new teammate. The Colts receiver, miffed with the addition of Kerry Collins as an insurance policy in case Peyton Manning isn't ready for the start of the season, described it as a "step back." Based on that logic, relying on backup Curtis Painter – he of zero career touchdown passes – should be somewhere in the region of 10 steps back then.

Michael Schumacher

File this weekend under "You know you're old when…" The seven-time Formula One champion made his debut in the sport 20 years ago at Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps – the site of Sunday's race – when teammate Nico Rosberg was exactly six and current world champion Sebastian Vettel four.
