Tim Goettelmann and Stephen Peyser each had three goals as the Long Island Lizards defeated the Nationals 13-7 on Saturday in Toronto's final game of the Major League Lacrosse season.

John Grant Jr. had two goals and an assist to lead the Nationals, who finished the season 3-9 and out of playoff contention a year after winning the Steinfeld Cup in their inaugural season.

The Lizards (7-5) wound up in third place and will take on the Denver Outlaws in a semifinal playoff game Aug. 21. Denver lost to Toronto in last year's championship game.

Mark Steenhuis, Chris Daniello, Kevin Huntley and Brice Queener also scored for Toronto.
