Rebecca Marino won an all-Canadian final at the USTA's Rock Hill Challenger on Sunday, besting Sharon Fichman 3-6, 7-6(5), 6-2.
It's the first title the Vancouver native has won since a seven-month layoff to recover from fatigue. Marino has played in five tournaments since taking a break from professional tennis.
Marino saved three match points to take the second set 7-6(5) over Fichman, who's from Toronto.
"Phew! What a match," tweeted Marino after the victory. "Now off to Saguenay, QC. Back to the motherland! Leave tmrw bright & early at 3h30. Woohoo for early flights!"
Marino then added the hashtag "#sarcastic" to her message.
She is scheduled to compete in the National Bank Women's Challenger in Saguenay, Que., next week.
