Canada's Meaghan Benfeito has won her second bronze medal of the Rio Olympics, finishing third in the women's 10-metre platform event on Thursday.

Benfeito, 27, from Laval, Que., finished with an overall score of 389.20.

Her teammate and synchro partner Roseline Filion, 29, also from Laval, placed sixth with 367.95.

China went 1-2 atop the podium, with Ren Qian capturing gold, and silver going to Si Yajie.

This is Benfeito's first individual medal in Rio after winning bronze with Filion in the 10-metre synchronized event. The Canadians defended the medal they won at the 2012 London Games.

Benfeito was a two-time medallist at last summer's Pan Am Games in Toronto, winning gold in 10-metre synchro and bronze in the 10-metre event.

She is competing at her third Olympics.
