Diana Matheson scored in the 87th minute Tuesday to lift Canada's women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Hungary.

The international friendly was part of Canada's preparations for the upcoming women's World Cup in Germany.

Karina LeBlanc earned the clean sheet in net, while Brittany Timko wore the captain's armband in her 100th national team appearance.

Canada's record in 2011 improved to 9-1-2.

The Canadians were missing star striker Christine Sinclair, who's playing with the Western New York Flash of the WPS and will join the national team before they open the World Cup against host Germany in Berlin on June 26.

The Canadian women gathered for a pre-World Cup camp in Rome last month.
