It just goes to show you that getting married at a castle in France is no guarantee to a long-term relationship, no matter how well you dribble penetrate.
According to People everyone's favourite basketball fan won't be lending her particular brand of glamour to San Antonio anytime soon as Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is splitting from Tony Parker, France's best point guard. I could have predicted this based on the fact that Parker also had ambitions to be a rapper. That is a red flag, always.
The next test for Parker will be if he can match Steve Nash's steely fortitude in the face of homefront tension, as Nash is playing the best basketball of the season and led the Suns to a three-game winning streak since announing the birth of his son and his divorce in one 24-hour span last week.
UPDATE:
You know, the Spurs have been a modest surprise so far this season, the veteran club busting from the gate with an 8-1 record. It will, of course, be interesting to see how that holds up given the revelations that Parker was cheating on his wife with a former teammate's wife after Longoria found hundreds of text messages from her hubby to former teammate's partner. No names have yet surfaced -- actually it's being reported that it's Brent Barry's wife -- and I'm not going to make a Matt Bonner joke on principle.
I will, however, recall fondly the Al Iafrate-Gary Leeman era in Toronto, when Leeman made things a bit awkward in the Leafs room after he began squiring around Iafrate's girlfriend at the time.
Pro sports are great.
