Ottawa’s Gabriela Dabrowski fell short in the mixed doubles final at the French Open on Thursday.

Dabrowski and American partner Evan King dropped a 4-6, 6-3, 10-4 decision to top-seeded Italians Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori.

Errani and Vavassori became the first team since 2019 to successfully defend the Roland Garros mixed doubles title.

Dabrowski and King, playing together for the first time this year, advanced to the final with a semifinal victory over Croatia’s Nikola Mektic and American Asia Muhammad.

Dabrowski still has a chance to leave Roland Garros with a title in women’s doubles alongside Brazil’s Luisa Stefani.

The fourth-seeded pair will face top-seeded Katerina Siniakova of Czechia and American Taylor Townsend in the semifinals.
