Tuesday

WTA Tour Finals

The season-ending tournament features the top eight women players (though the Williams sisters remain sidelined by injuries) and the four best doubles pairs in the world. The lucrative event is making its last appearance in Qatar before moving on to Istanbul for the next three years.

Tuesday

Miami Heat at Boston Celtics

Miami's new big three of LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade dominated the spotlight all summer, so it's natural that the Heat stars continue to shine on the first night of the NBA season. The trio face their biggest challengers in the Eastern Conference.

Wednesday

Texas Rangers at San Francisco Giants

Game 1 of the World Series features a juicy pitching matchup with the Giants likely to start two-time Cy Young Award-winner Tim Lincecum against the Rangers' Cliff Lee, who is 7-0 in eight career postseason starts.

Saturday

New Jersey Devils at Los Angeles Kings

The Devils' Ilya Kovalchuk can tour neighbourhoods, inspect dressing rooms and otherwise ponder what might have been, had he signed with the Kings rather than the Devils in the off-season. The surging Kings were the first runners-up for Kovalchuk's services behind the slumping Devils.
