Away for the holidays

The Montreal Canadiens will be tested at home in back-to-back games against the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday and Boston Bruins on Thursday before embarking on a seven-game road swing to face the Colorado Avalanche, Dallas Stars, Carolina Panthers, New York Islanders, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.

The surprising Jacksonville Jaguars quietly lead the American Football Conference South by one game over the Indianapolis Colts. The teams meet Sunday in Indianapolis at 1 p.m. EST.

Avoid at all costs

Toronto is a renowned nightlife refuge for NBA players, and the Los Angeles Lakers will have Saturday night off in the city before playing the Raptors at the Air Canada Centre the following day at 1 p.m. EST - or 10 a.m., PT.
