The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have filled their vacant kicker's position.

The CFL club dipped into the free-agent ranks Monday to sign veteran Sandro DeAngelis, a native of Niagara Falls, Ont., who spent last season with the Calgary Stampeders.

DeAngelis takes over for veteran Nick Setta, who was released earlier in the off-season.

"We are pleased to improve our kicking game with the addition of the most accurate kicker in the history of this league," general manager Bob O'Billovich said in a statement. "Throughout his career, Sandro has proven to be very consistent and has shown the ability to handle pressure.

"We're looking forward to seeing him perform at a high level in Hamilton."

The five-foot-eight, 195-pound DeAngelis made 42-of-49 field goals (85.7 per cent) last year with Calgary. During his five seasons with the Stampeders, DeAngelis made 83.8 per cent of his field goals and averaged 59.4 yards per kickoff.

The 28-year-old has been named a CFL all-star three times and in 2006 received the league's top special-teams player award. He was also named the top Canadian in the 2008 Grey Cup after booting five field goals in Calgary's win over Montreal.
