Colorado Avalanche forward Darcy Tucker has been hit with a one game suspension, the NHL announced Tuesday.

The suspension stems from Tucker making "excessive physical contact" on an icing play in Colorado's 4-3 overtime loss against the Kings on Monday night in Los Angeles.

Tucker was assessed a minor penalty for tripping Kings player Matt Greene on the play, which occurred at 10:13 of the third period.

He will forfeit $11,658.03 (U.S.), with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund, and miss the Avs' home game Wednesday's night against Los Angeles.
