While pretty much everyone and their dog is going crazy over 3D TV at CES this year, LG is attracting a lot of attention using a more traditional TV metric: slimness.

I just got through the company's sizeable showroom space, and a whole lot of people stood transfixed before a sleek 55-inch full LED TV that measures a whopping 6.9 millimetres deep. The set was flanked on either side by beautiful women whose job it is to tell everyone not to take photographs (we media folks could).

I'm sure they will cost a whole lot of money when they hit the market around October, but the TV is stunning, even more so than the insane-looking 84-inch hi-def set LG also has on display.

It's a weird industry where companies hire beautiful people to stand beside electronics, and everybody is more interested in the latter. That's CES for you.
