Headsets hang in front of a screen displaying a Spotify logo on it, in Zenica February 20, 2014.DADO RUVIC/Reuters

We know Spotify is holding an event today even if we don't know what it will reveal; a cryptic invite went out a while back in which the streaming music company promised, "We've got some news." The most tantalizing rumour is that the Swedish company will launch a streaming video option for its 15 million paying subscribers (it has a total of 60 million users, most rely on the free option).

On Monday, Spotify announced a partnership with Starbucks that will let its baristas operate as in-store DJs on the service, a deal which seems aimed to slowly replace the coffee company's use of satellite radio and rely less on promotion of iTunes in store. Whatever's happening, it seems like Spotify wants to steal headlines ahead of Apple and Beats' next moves in the streaming market (expected this summer).

Also, Salesforce (CRM) reports after markets close today. Analysts seem mostly positive that earnings will beat expectations.
