Katherine Martinko is a writer, editor, and author of Childhood Unplugged: Practical Advice to Get Kids Off Screens and Find Balance (2023). A speaker on behalf of Jonathan Haidt’s Anxious Generation campaign, she gives talks internationally about how to curb kids’ screen time and reclaim childhood from devices. In her popular email newsletter, The Analog Family, she writes about how to fight tech takeover, embrace independence, tolerate boredom, and navigate FOMO. She makes regular appearances on national TV, radio stations, and podcasts.
A former senior editor at Dotdash Meredith, her work has appeared in The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, CBC, Global News, Motherly, After Babel, Discovery Network, Green Child magazine, and other publications. She has worked as an editor for Martha Stewart, Allrecipes, Angi, Danone, and Treehugger. Raised in Muskoka, with stints in Sardinia and northeastern Brazil, she graduated from the University of Toronto and now lives in Bruce County with her family.
