StaffRetirement and financial planning reporterToronto

Meera Raman is the retirement and financial planning reporter for The Globe and Mail's Report on Business, based in Toronto.

Her reporting breaks down barriers around retirement planning by ditching jargon-heavy, one-size-fits-all coverage. Instead, she writes stories that meet readers where they’re at — whether they’re just starting to think about saving, rejigging their plans mid-life, or navigating retirement right now.

Before landing at The Globe, Meera wrote a personal finance newsletter for The Peak, which had an audience of over 40,000 subscribers. She has also had stints at the Boston Business Journal covering financial services, and NPR, producing podcasts.

When she's not thinking about all things retirement planning, Meera can be found trying new restaurants with friends, binge reading a new book, or at her local yoga studio.

Why did you become a journalist?

There are two things I love: writing and asking questions. When I realized that I could make a career out of these two passions, there was no looking back. The opportunity to have a job that lets me talk to new people every day, broaden my perspective, and then disseminate that information to others felt like a dream. And now, luckily, it's my reality.
