Sarah J. Harb

Sarah J. Harb is an Ottawa-based journalist covering foreign and parliamentary affairs and is completing an academic internship at The Globe and Mail.
Sarah holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Human Behaviour from McMaster University and is a candidate for a Master's in Journalism at Carleton University. She spent two years working in the arts sector, where she contributed feature stories for the Canada Council for the Arts and CCUNESCO. Sarah interned at The Hill Times in Ottawa, where she reported on parliamentary and government affairs. When she's not watching a live newsfeed, Sarah is either hiking or digging into a book on philosophy, sociology or critical theory.
Why did you become a journalist?
As a kid, I thought the news was the TV's default screen. Today, it may as well be. I remember sitting at my dining table, reading every inch of the paper (yes, ads included), dreaming of writing stories and making people feel seen through words. I was — and still am — endlessly curious about people and the world, and inundated my parents with questions. Now, it's my job to ask them all and listen.
