Keep in mind, when looking at transaction activities by insiders, purchasing activity may reflect perceived value in a security. An insider’s total holdings should be considered because a sale may, in context, be insignificant if this person has a large remaining position in the company. I tend to put great weight on insider transaction activity when I see multiple insiders trading a company’s shares or units.

Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM-T)
On Aug. 10, Merfyn Roberts, who sits on the board of directors, sold 1,000 shares at a price per share of $244.66, after which this particular account held 17,682 shares. Proceeds from the sale exceeded $244,000, excluding trading fees.
Alvopetro Energy Ltd. (ALV-X)
Between Aug. 11-13, president, chief executive officer and director Corey Ruttan sold a total of 40,100 shares at an average price per share of roughly $9.90, leaving 913,583 shares in this particular account. Proceeds from the sales totaled more than $397,000, not including commission charges.
Amerigo Resources Ltd. (ARG-T)
Between July 31-Aug. 11, president, chief executive officer and director Aurora Davidson sold a total of 90,000 shares at an average price per share of approximately $7.44, after which 1,556,046 shares remained in this specific account. Proceeds from the sales exceeded $669,000, excluding trading fees.
Year-to-date, shares of Amerigo are up nearly 70 per cent. On Aug. 11, the share price hit an intraday record high of $8.48.
The company pays its shareholders a quarterly dividend of 4 cents per share combined with occasional performance dividends.
