First Merchants Announces New $100 Million Share Buyback

TipRanks' Prime Week Sale - 70% Off

First Merchants ( (FRME) ) just unveiled an update.

On June 24, 2026, First Merchants Corporation’s board authorized a new stock repurchase program covering up to 3,125,000 shares of common stock, capped at a total investment of $100 million, or about 5% of its outstanding shares. The buyback may be executed at management’s discretion through open market trades, private transactions or Rule 10b5-1 plans, with no obligation to repurchase and the flexibility to discontinue the program at any time.

The timing, volume and pricing of repurchases will depend on factors such as the company’s share price, broader market and economic conditions and legal requirements. This authorization replaces a similar repurchase program put in place in March 2025, signaling ongoing capital management efforts that could influence earnings per share and shareholder returns over time.

The most recent analyst rating on (FRME) stock is a Buy
with a $50.00 price target.

Spark’s Take on FRME Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, FRME is a Neutral.

FRME scores as a moderate-quality setup: solid core profitability and constructive earnings-call guidance/capital actions are tempered by weakening cash-flow trend, rising leverage, and currently soft/neutral technical momentum. Valuation is reasonable but not compelling, with the dividend yield providing partial support.
