Mary Hemmingsen
Jo Mark Zurel, Chair of Fortis Inc., is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Hemmingsen to the Board of Directors of Fortis Inc., effective May 7, 2026.
Ms. Hemmingsen is a Partner, Investment Banking, at Moneta Securities, and provides strategic, financial, and board advisory services through Hemmingsen Enterprises Limited.
She has held senior leadership and executive roles at KPMG, Brookfield and BC Hydro. At KPMG, Ms. Hemmingsen was Global Partner, LNG and Power and Utilities Industry Lead - Canada, advising energy clients on market and project strategies and regulation. At Brookfield, she served as a senior vice president and vice president within the Power and Utilities Group, with responsibility for business development, commercial affairs, communications, and government and stakeholder relations. During her time at BC Hydro, Ms. Hemmingsen held multiple leadership positions, including Chief Procurement Officer and Senior Vice President, Distribution and served as lead witness in numerous regulatory proceedings.
Ms. Hemmingsen is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has completed executive programs at Harvard Business School, the Institute of Corporate Directors at the Rotman School of Management, and the Schulich School of Business. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and is a founding member of Extraordinary Women on Boards.
Ms. Hemmingsen currently serves on the Graham Construction Board, where she is Chair of the Audit Committee, as well as on the boards of select closely held private companies in the energy, specialized construction services, and clean technology sectors.
