Hudbay Minerals ( (TSE:HBM) ) has shared an announcement.

On May 28, 2026, Hudbay Minerals said the Toronto Stock Exchange approved its plan to start a new normal course issuer bid for its common shares. The company can repurchase up to 19,863,997 shares, or 5% of its outstanding stock as of May 21, 2026, between June 1, 2026 and May 31, 2027, with any shares bought on the TSX, NYSE or other Canadian platforms to be cancelled and funded from operating cash flow.

Hudbay noted that no shares were repurchased under its prior bid, which began on May 30, 2025 and expires on May 29, 2026, but it is renewing the program because it believes its share price may at times undervalue the business and its prospects. The move signals management’s willingness to deploy capital to support the stock and potentially enhance shareholder returns when market conditions make buybacks an attractive use of funds.

The most recent analyst rating on (TSE:HBM) stock is a Buy with a C$46.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Hudbay Minerals stock, see the TSE:HBM Stock Forecast page.

Spark’s Take on HBM Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, HBM is a Outperform.

The score is driven primarily by strengthened financial performance (higher profitability and improved leverage) and a very positive earnings update with reiterated guidance and clear growth catalysts. Valuation is supportive (moderate P/E and high dividend yield), while technicals confirm an uptrend. Offsetting factors are cyclical earnings/cash-flow volatility, mixed cash conversion, and ongoing permitting/capex uncertainty around growth projects.
