Canada's main stock index was flat on Thursday, as investors took a breather after a series of record highs this week, and declines in miners and financial stocks offset gains in energy.
The TSX ducked back 9.97 points, to open Thursday at 31,170.25.
The Canadian dollar gained 0.06 cents to 71.23 cents U.S.
Canada-listed shares of Hut 8 gained 1.1% tracking an over 1% gain in bitcoin.
Gold prices gained 21 cents to $58.86.
Oil prices sagged $11.60 to 4,153.60.
ON BAYSTREET
The TSX Venture Exchange deducted 2.57 points to 915.79.
Still, six of the 12 TSX subgroups enjoyed gains, led by information technology, up 0.7%, energy, ahead 0.3%, and telecoms, up 0.2%.
The five laggards were weighed most by gold and materials, each down 0.4%, and consumer staples, off 0.2%.
