Obsidian Energy ( (TSE:OBE) ) has provided an announcement.
Obsidian Energy announced on July 2, 2026 that it closed its previously disclosed acquisition of Belly River light oil assets in the Wilson Creek area of Willesden Green on June 30, 2026, paying about $98 million and adding roughly 2,500 boe/d and 35 net sections of land. The deal, funded through its credit facilities, expands the scale of its Willesden Green position and is aimed at driving sustained production growth toward about 20,000 boe/d and higher free cash flow.
Following the acquisition, the company raised its 2026 average production guidance to 29,000–31,000 boe/d while keeping capital spending at $300–$325 million, and outlined a six-well program on the acquired lands in early 2027 to lift output from those assets to about 3,000 boe/d. Management now targets approximately 22% total production growth and 28% light oil growth in 2027, expecting lower operating and break-even costs and highlighting a stronger balance sheet and expanded credit facility as key support for its shareholder-focused growth plans.
The most recent analyst rating on (TSE:OBE) stock is a Buy

Spark’s Take on OBE Stock
According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, OBE is a Neutral.
The score is primarily held back by weakening financial performance (near break-even profitability and negative free cash flow) and bearish technical momentum (below key moving averages with negative MACD). Valuation also detracts due to an extremely high P/E tied to very low earnings.
