This semi-detached, raised bungalow, with an asking price of $829,000, had nearly three dozen visitors, including first-time buyers and investors. At three different times, the sellers declined offers in the $700,000s, even though other homes in the area, near Steeles and Islington avenues, were trading at around that level, between $730,000 and $780,000.
“Buyers were trying to grab a deal, and my clients were trying to get close to the asking price,” said agent Gary Cirillo.
“There were a lot of low sales in the area. That’s why it took us a little longer.”
In July, a new offer came in for the 54-year-old home on a winding, tree-lined street. Negotiations brought the number to $800,000, which the sellers accepted.
“In this pocket, prices had dropped dramatically,” Mr. Cirillo said. “That’s why it was tougher to get $800,000.
“It was definitely on a better street, and, looking at the competition, this one was probably the best in terms of pride of ownership, even though it was all original.”
