The action
Listing agent Richard Glendinning had just sold the house across the street for well over asking when he was asked to take this listing as well.
“I listed it, got six offers on it, and it went for $246,000 over the list price,” said Mr. Glendinning, who held open houses on the weekend and saw around 75 parties come through each time.
Two of the buyers who made offers did pre-inspections. The winning bid went to a young professional who intends to live in the house and who loved the renovated kitchen.
The sale completed March 27.

What they got
This Vancouver Special is on the city’s east side in the heart of the Hastings Sunrise neighbourhood. The area is growing in popularity with young families because of its leafy streets and proximity to shops and schools, but also because it is outside the gritty urban core.
The 2,650-square-foot house sits on a standard 33- by 122-foot lot, and has been well-maintained by one owner since it was built in 1971.
The house has a practical layout to accommodate intergenerational living or a separate rental suite, with a self-contained three bedrooms, kitchen and living area upstairs and another three bedrooms, kitchen and living area downstairs. It underwent updates a decade ago, including kitchen and bathroom renovations.
