BHP Billiton Ltd was incorporated and registered in Australia in 1885. The Company is a natural resources company. The Company is engaged in the producing commodities, including iron ore, metallurgical and energy coal, conventional and unconventional oil and gas, copper, aluminium, manganese, uranium, nickel and silver. The Company is engaged in operating in five segments; Petroleum and Potash, Copper, Iron Ore, Coal, and Aluminium, Manganese and Nickel. The Petroleum and Potash segment is engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas, and also engaged in potash pre-development. The Copper segment is engaged in mining of copper, silver, lead, zinc, molybdenum, uranium and gold. The Iron Ore segment is engaged in mining of iron ore. The Coal segment is engaged in mining of metallurgical coal and thermal (energy) coal. The Aluminium, Manganese and Nickel segment is engaged in mining of bauxite, refining of bauxite into alumina and smelting of alumina into aluminium metal, it also mines manganese ore and produces manganese metal and alloys, and also engaged in the mining & production of nickel products. The Company has operations in Melbourne, London and Singapore.
