Hitachi Ltd was founded in 1910. The Company is engaged in the manufacture and sale of electronic and electrical products in Japan, Asia, the United States, and Europe. The company operates its business in 11 segments: Information and Telecommunication Systems; Power Systems; Social Infrastructure and Industrial Systems; Electronic Systems and Equipment; Construction Machinery; High Functional Materials and Components; Automotive Systems; Components & Devices; Digital Media & Consumer Products; Financial Services; and Others. In Information & Telecommunication Systems segment, the company provides products and services, including hardware products, software, and services. The hardware products that the company offers include disk array subsystems, servers, and mainframes. It also develops and offers various software packages. It also provides telecommunications and network equipment and systems, which are delivered to customers in the data and telecommunication industries and other business customers. In software and services businesses, it offers outsourcing services, such as data center outsourcing services, which entail the monitoring, operation, and maintenance of information on behalf of clients, as well as strategic outsourcing services, which provides support for customers' information systems, including consulting, systems design, construction, operation, and maintenance; and consulting services. In Power Systems, the Company offers thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, hydroelectric power plants, and related services for power utilities. In Social Infrastructure & Industrial Systems segment, the Company provides infrastructure products and services, such as railway vehicles and control systems, elevators, and escalators. In Electronic Systems & Equipment segment, it provides systems, including semiconductor and liquid crystal displays (LCDs) manufacturing equipment, and electronic parts manufacturing systems. It also produces medical and inspection systems that improve health and wellness, and power tools for both professional and home use.
