As the cost of living continues to rise, Canadians are looking for smarter ways to spend and save their money. And loyalty programs – where consumers receive points, discounts or rewards when frequenting a specific business – can be an effective way to spend strategically.

Banks, grocery stores, gas stations and other businesses are fighting to attract the attention of money-conscious Canadians, intent on keeping them within their systems with the promise of money saved or rewards earned for being a loyal customer.

But it can be hard to figure out which programs are really worth your time. And when a loyalty program announces a change to its system, it can be unclear whether or not the value is still there.
