The role diet plays in aging has received considerable attention in recent years, as more studies show a strong link between what you eat and how long – and well – you live. Sticking to the Mediterranean diet, for example, has been shown to improve your brain health, while artificial sweeteners are linked to faster cognitive decline.

Registered dietitian Leslie Beck answered reader questions on the keys to healthy aging, what habits can improve cognitive health and longevity, and how to manage a diet that can last decades.
