The action
The owner of this 0.19-acre lot might have imagined building a home that made the most of its panoramic views south and west towards Silvertip Golf Course, as well as the mountain peaks of Three Sisters and Mount Rundle. But a change of plans this spring led them instead to put the vacant land on the slopes of Mount Lady Macdonald up for sale.
“It’s a glorious lot, right on the tee box, with some of the best views in all of Canmore,” said agent Drew Betts.
“There are a lot of homes with stunning views, similar to this, but most lots have been built on or purchased, which makes this a rare piece.”
Mr. Betts was concerned the lot’s premium price, due to its size measuring 8,127 square feet, might shrink its buyer pool and lengthen its time on the market, yet one buyer arranged a $1.8-million sale two months after its launch.
“For a lot, it sold on the faster side of things,” Mr. Betts said.
“Silvertip lots are generally larger than a town-centre lot, maybe 5,000 to 6,500 square feet.”

“The beauty of Silvertip is how it’s starting to grow now,” Mr. Betts said.
“They’ve had the golf course for many years, but now they’ve got a restaurant, winter experiences and weddings.
“There’s a [food] market now, so you can stay up in Silvertip and not have to go into town if you don’t want to.”
