The action
This three-bedroom townhouse was listed for sale last fall with an asking price under $690,000, in line with what similar stacked townhouses in the area around Eglinton Avenue and Danforth Road had sold for. There was one offer, which the seller shot down as being too low, opting to wait for a better bid to emerge.
“Stacked townhomes are not rare for Toronto, but rare for that pocket of Scarborough,” said agent Stephen Young.
“In terms of the length of time it takes to sell a property, that number has been creeping up weeks to months in the past two years as the market has softened and there’s more inventory.”
Traffic to this unit, updated despite being built less than five years ago, spiked after the asking price dipped below $650,000. Within two weeks, a buyer made an offer of $620,000, which was accepted.
“Everything is challenging in this marketplace, but the good news is, we got it done,” Mr. Young said.
“These three-bedroom [units] are very rare, which was to our advantage.”
