After a hard-fought loss to Morocco in the round of 16 on Saturday, Canada is out of the World Cup. But the team made history this year, earning its first-ever win in the tournament – on home soil, no less – and also winning its first knockout game.

Canada’s role as co-host is also nearing an end – the final match in Toronto was a nail-biter between Portugal and Croatia last Thursday, and Vancouver’s final match will be on Tuesday.

After years of anticipation from both host cities and the team itself, did the World Cup live up to our expectations? How did the expanded 48-team format go? And which countries are the favourites to be crowned World Cup champion next week?

On Wednesday, July 8 at 1 p.m. ET, sports writers Cathal Kelly, Paul Attfield, Neil Davidson and David Ebner will be live answering your questions about the World Cup, Canada’s showing and where the team goes from here.

What did Canada do well and what do we need to improve next time? Can this country call the World Cup run a success? Is it really a big deal Alphonso Davies hardly played – and which players rose to the occasion in his absence?
