Excited kids and adults jump and stomp around a round table as they cheer at about a dozen of snails, hoping it will be their snail who will be crowned champion. The town in Taiwan’s eastern Hualien County has been putting on snail races as a way to celebrate its focus on a slower, sustainable lifestyle with a focus on community.
